Winter is rolling in and so Golf4Fun moves indoors for those who want to keep the cobwebs off their game over the winter months.

14 hardy souls turned up to GolfNow for the first indoor round of the season and after a quick warm-up it was down to business as we played the tricky Mauna Kea Resort course.

The simulator for most shots seemed pretty accurate as a lot of my balls ended up in the trees, just like on the real course! But being indoors I didn’t lose any balls which makes a nice change.

Very quickly all teams discovered that there was a very generous 2m “gimmie” range for putts which was rather useful as judging the pace when putting into a screen on rather undulating greens was definitely the most difficult element of the day!

The services from the staff was great and being able to sit in a comfy chair sipping a drink or having a burger at any point during the round also makes a nice change from our usual exertions round a golf course.

As a side challenge most people also took part in the Tiger Woods Foundation nearest to the pin challenge at the challenging 17th at Pebble Beach. Despite only being just over 100m and downhill the very strong headwind and pin position in the back right corner made it very difficult. Needless to say none of us made it to the top of the leaderboard as very few managed to even find the green!

All in all it was a very good experience for my first time playing indoors and I would definitely recommend it and I’m looking forward to the next round in January.
