Last Sunday Golf4Fun’ers travelled to Schlossplatz Golf Course braving the cold and were rewarded by the sunshine coming out to greet us as we make it through the final holes.
It was my 1st time visiting the course, which is one of four courses belonging to the Drei Thermen Golf Resort. And at 1 hour and 20 minutes from Zuerich it makes it pretty accessible when you tire of all the courses closer to home and want to check out someplace new.
Set in the woodland grounds of what must once have been an impressive castle, the course only featured 3 dog legs so the variety of challenges is not great. However it certainly challenged the gentlemen to keep those drives straight – golf balls were heard hitting many tree trunks on the day. To say the fairways are tight is an understatement and there was many misjudgements of the greens. What looked like a simple course on paper was anything but when faced with the challenge in reality.
If you want to try a course which will test all of your abilities except your phobia of water, then this is one for you to check out!
As we wound our way around the very scenic course – you can see some pictures in our group album by clicking on the picture above – we were joined by a lone player who by the end of the round had become the newest member of Golf4Fun.
Congratulations to Paul for a commanding 39 point win, made even more commanding as he was the PR of the group! Another contendor for King Rabbit of 2013 appears in our sights. Pedro came in second with a resounding 34 points. The rest of us trailed behind in the following order: Jay (29), Geoff (27), Antonette (26), Nora (23), Pedro D (21) and Dani and Siegi made up the final scores between them.
Next friendly round in May will be our weekend trip playing at La Bielle in Piedmont, which I just heard yesterday is an extremely challenging course also. The group trip is now full, so anyone who would like to join will be added to the wait list. Full details for the weekend here.
Many thanks to SWISS Golf Traveller for sponsoring the prizes for all our Friendly Rounds and Par 3 events in 2013! Check out their great offer exclusive to Golf4Fun members
